Connor Hayes speaks with Shailza Sharma, a visiting lecturer at University of Westminster and a PhD student at the University of Exeter, about the history of the RSS, the emergence of the Modi government in the context of neoliberalism and the global rise of the far right, and the ongoing farmers protests in India.

Shailza Sharma is a visiting lecturer at University of Westminster and a PhD student at the University of Exeter. Shailza is a lawyer by training and her academic research is informed by activist practice, and work with women’s networks such as Women Against Sexual Violence and State Repression. Shailza’s research and academic interests lie at the intersection of gender and women’s rights, legal theory, social movements, and contemporary Indian politics. Shailza is an editor of the Detention Solidarity Network which is an online space to critically engage with the structures and experiences of detention that constitute the carceral state in India.

Connor Hayes is an activist, researcher, and a student of philosophy. He was a member of the 2019 International Peace Delegation to Imrali.
