Solidarity with Iosu Uribetxeberria
10 citizens and over 390 prisoners start hunger strikes and protests in solidarity with Iosu Uribetxeberria. 11 members of Herrira (asociation for rights of political prisoners) and over 390 prisoners in Spanish and French different jails have started hunger strikes and protests in solidarity with Iosu Uribetxeberria.
Iosu Uribetxeberria suffers cancer and undertook a hunger strike on the 8th August to denounce the treatment he is suffering and request decent conditions and his conditional release under article 92, he has also denounced that the Government keeps in prison other 14 prisoners with serious illnesses. Spanish Penal Law allows the conditional release of
prisoners suffering incurable diseases on its Article 92.
We make an urgent call on the international community to ask the Spanish Government to fulfil its own law, and respond to Iosu's requests. (Aplication of article 92 of Penal) We would also like to highlight the case of Ines del Rio and nearly 70 prisoners who are kept in prison on the aplication of the Parot Doctrine, even though it has been declared to
breach Human Rights by the European Court of Human Rights, the Spanish Government has refused to follow up the ECHR's recommendations.

Audiencia Nacional' and the responsible of Penitentiary Institutions Mr Angel Yuste. We would also appreciate if you could put forward the issue on your own country's media and keep us informed of any initiative you take regarding this issue.
