Connor Hayes speaks with Hassan Hamdam, vice-president of the Baloch Human Rights Council, about the history of Balochistan and its division between multiple nation-states, the work of the Baloch Human Rights Council and Sindhi Baloch Forum, his recently-published book entitled The Right to Self-Determination Under International Law and Politics: The Case of the Baloch People, the possibilities for self-determination in Balochistan, and the case for humanitarian intervention in Balochistan.

Hassan Hamdam is a Baloch poet and literary figure, and a long-time activist with the Baloch national struggle. In 2000, he fled Balochistan and received asylum in the UK. He received his master’s degree in human rights and social justice (with a focus on international legal norms) from London Metropolitan University. Presently, he serves as the vice-president of the Baloch Human Rights Council. He is the author of The Right to Self-Determination Under International Law and Politics: The Case of the Baloch People, published in 2020 by Trafford Publishing.

Connor Hayes is an activist, researcher, and a student of philosophy. He was a member of the 2019 International Peace Delegation to Imrali.
